The Inaugural Child of Wales awards took place just over two weeks ago on Friday 4th March at Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel. The event, which was postponed 3 times due to Covid, was hosted by Welsh TV present Gethin Jones and paid homage to some incredible children and young people of Wales.

A vital part of the event was to raise money for 4 children’s charities across Wales – Dreams & Wishes, NSPCC, Teenage Cancer Trust and The Bluestone Foundation. Prior to the event, the awards donated £15,000 to the charities, and on the night funds were raised through a raffle, silent and live auction.

With the backing of sponsors, guests and winners the total figure expected to have been raised is £56,327, including the 2020 donation, which will be evenly divided amongst the charities. The Bluestone Foundation has chosen to give their donation to the Red Cross to help those suffering in Ukraine. The figure would not have been achievable without the incredible support of sponsors and guests, and in particular support from Craig Davies from Croeso Pubs Ltd who made a donation and AltraLaw, who fund matched the proceeds raised through the raffle on the night.

AltraLaw is the UK’s first Not-For-Profit Law firm, which prides itself on providing excellent legal advice, exceptional client services and using the business as a force for good. All of their profits are given to causes chosen by their clients and referrers, to help ensure they bring help and change where it is needed the most.

Nathan Vidini, Founder of AltraLaw said “Everyone at AltraLaw is delighted to support the Child of Wales Awards. The examples of bravery and commitment we hear through these awards are truly inspirational. It is a pleasure to play a small part in ensuring the winners and all children and organisations nominated are given the praise and recognition they truly deserve. These childrens’ stories encourage us all to be better people and we can have more hope that the future of Wales is in good hands with remarkable children like these at the helm.”

Awards Founder, Blanche Sainsbury saidWe are thrilled with the amount of money we have raised for our chosen charities, especially as this is our inaugural awards. We are so grateful for the support and generosity of Altra Law and we wouldn’t have been able to achieve this figure without them or the support of our sponsors and guests.”
