Only Men Aloud confirmed to perform at Child of Wales Awards!
With just under 5 months until the awards take place at Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, preparations and exciting developments are taking place behind the scenes to ensure all who attend will enjoy an evening of inspiration, emotion as well as recognition, and great entertainment is key!
We are so excited to announce that Only Men Aloud will be performing at the next Child of Wales Awards in 2023. Originally set to perform for us in 2020, due to the rescheduling that took place, the choir unfortunately couldn’t join us for our first awards ceremony, but we are so pleased that they will be joining us next year to entertain our guests and nominees on the night.
Only Men Aloud have been delighting audiences globally for over 20 years. Formed in the year 2000, with high hopes to bring some new life into the Welsh male choir tradition, the men have gained a reputation for their strong vocals and varied repertoire. Expect many different styles of music on the 24 March 2023, from Welsh hymns to opera, right through to pop.
Fourteen years ago, they were named BBC One’s Last Choir Standing, and this led to an album deal with Universal Records. In 2010, they won a Classical Brit Award for Best Album of the Year. They have toured every year since winning the show, all around the world and have worldwide record sales of over 300,000.
As the years have passed, the popularity of Only Men Aloud has grown hugely. They are lucky to have a strong fanbase, and were honoured to be asked to sing at the London 2012 Opening Ceremony as the Olympic Flame was lit. Over 900 million people watched their performance.
Awards founder, Blanche Sainsbury, said “It is fantastic to have Only Men Aloud join us next year. With date clashes preventing them from being at the 2022 awards, it is great that we have been able to make it happen for 2023.
“We know they will help to make the night even more special for all in attendance.”
