Cerys Angharad has had an extremely busy and successful year following on from the inaugral Child of Wales Awards.

Following on from 2 successful auditions, she secured scholarships from Awards from Young Musicians and a 3-year scholarship from Future Talent, providing mentorship, performance opportunities and finance towards her harp studies, which she is extremely grateful to receive.

She has won the Under 16 Harp Solo at the National Eisteddfod of Wales Ceredigion in August 2022, and to crown the week also won the coveted Under 16 Instrumental Blue Ribband and a £1,000 scholarship towards her harp studies.

After 5 years of being a young harpist with the National Childrens Orchestra GB she finally played her last concert with them in the Summer, culminating in an amazing concert with Jess Gilham MBE in Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

Finally, she was mentored by the BBC Symphony Orchestra harpist for a year, culminating in an amazing performance side by side with the entire orchestra in Maida Vale, London before Christmas - a memory she’ll truly never forget.

Now in the throes of exam revision and upcoming GCSEs, Cerys continues to be as magnetically drawn to the harp as ever, and wishes to thank her harp tutor, Caryl Thomas for all her guidance and support throughout the years.

Aside from music she’s also a keen athlete and won gold in the under 15s Welsh Schools competition last year in Cardiff and both silver and bronze medals in the Welsh Athletics Indoor and Outdoor under 15 pole vault competitions.

An incredible year for Cerys!
