The Principality Building Society Child of Wales Awards 2023 took place on Friday 24th March 2023 at Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel.

The awards this year received over 300 stories of inspirational children & young people across Wales, with the judges making the incredibly tough decision of choosing just 13 winners.

These 13 incredible young people were honoured in a star studded ceremony hosted by Gethin Jones, with entertainment in the form of male voice choir Only Men Aloud, who closed the evening with a medley of Welsh songs. Junior Eurovision 2022 UK representative, Freya Skye, performed her Eurovision entry – Lose My Head – and The Child of Wales Choir opened the show.

The evening also featured a live auction with money can’t buy items, with all proceeds going to our children’s charities – Ty Hafan and Hope House Ty Gobaith.

But the real stars of the evening, of course, were the young deserving winners of the Child of Wales Awards. Guests were once again wowed by some awe inspiring stories of some incredible children and young people from across Wales.

The inspirational stories of these individuals was told through video on the evening. It certainly was a tearjerker – but also uplifting – it was a night of celebration and emotion.

Blanche Sainsbury, found of the awards said: “My thanks to Principality Building Society and all our sponsors who supported us in the creation of the second Child of Wales awards. We’re proud to have created an evening dedicated to the triumphs and successes of young people across Wales, and have been overwhelmed with all the nominations that made this night possible.”
